$120,000 in scholarships up for grabs in 2024 USA Bowling Tournament season

ARLINGTON, Texas – For the first time in USA Bowling history, scholarships will be available in the regional and national events. Over $120,000 total will be awarded throughout the season, with the top three teams in each division at each region earning scholarships, and the first place team earning $1,000.

“We are thrilled to award over $120,000 in scholarships, propelling the enthusiasm for team-based play among our future bowling champions,” said Zach Barton, IBC Youth Director of Youth Development, “This builds on the exciting history of USA Bowling and aims to encourage more teams to participate across the country.”

Under revamped guidelines, USA Bowling is also implementing new eligibility requirements for participation, ensuring fair play and an equal opportunity for all. Participants will now be allowed to compete in a maximum of two regional events per season.

The 16-event regional schedule will begin on Jan. 7 in the Coastal South Region at Aloma Bowl in Winter Park, Florida, and end on May 4 in the Midwest Region at Mission Bowl in Olathe, Kansas.

The winning team in each age-based division at each regional qualifier will earn a spot at the national event. Competition at the USA Bowling National Championships will be streamed live on BowlTV with the finals being broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

Each event will include a seeding round and match-play bracket. Teams will bowl eight round-robin Baker match games to determine seeding for the double-elimination bracket at each regional event. Match-play will be best-of-three matches until a winner is determined.

USA Bowling line-ups will consist of four players using a modified Baker format. Bowlers one and two will each bowl three frames (1-5-9 and 2-6-10, respectively) while bowlers three and four each bowl two frames (3-7 and 4-8).

USA Bowling Regional tournaments started in 2013, building the foundation of what would lead to the inaugural USA Bowling National Championships in 2016. The national event grew from the USA Bowling program, a team-based youth program designed to introduce the sport to children.
